Coppell, TX (October 22, 2024) — For Datamax Inc. Vice President of Strategic Technology Justin Huffaker, step 1 for organizations in properly safeguarding their data is to fully recognize that cyber threats are real. Step 2: Make a strong commitment toward whatever steps are necessary to secure their organization.
Datamax Inc. solidified such a commitment recently by earning the Texas DIR Cyberstar Certificate for the second consecutive year. Awarded to both private and public sector institutions, earning this accolade requires a lengthy, stringent set of requirements that fully demonstrate cybersecurity defense. To date, Datamax was one of 26 organizations to earn this certificate in the State of Texas.
“Datamax is demonstrating leadership in cybersecurity by participating in a formal program promoted by the Texas DIR (Department of Information Resources),” Huffaker said. “As you can see by the small number of organizations that have successfully completed the program, it does offer Datamax a nice way to distinguish ourselves as leaders for both public and private sector organizations in all areas that we do business in, whether Texas or Arkansas.”
The Texas Cyberstar Certificate is recognition of an organization's commitment to cybersecurity best practices and to being a good organizational cybercitizen in the Texas cybercommunity. The Texas Cybersecurity Council selected the following five criteria for organizations seeking to obtain a Texas Cyberstar Certificate. An organization must:
- Adopt a cybersecurity risk management program;
- Provide appropriate training and information for employees;
- Maintain consistency with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards for cybersecurity;
- Incorporate public service announcements to encourage cybersecurity awareness; and
- Coordinate with local and state governmental entities.
Through its TechCare Managed IT Services Program, Datamax Inc. introduces enhanced security measures for businesses looking to safely navigate today’s cybersecurity climate. Among them: multifactor authentication, employee IT security education programs, and “Sandbox” advanced endpoint security analysis.
Huffaker says that earning the certificate is a “win-win” for both Datamax and the clients it helps shield against cyber threats every single day.
“If cybersecurity is important to the organizations that we work with AND if we are seeking ways to differentiate ourselves from competitors, the Texas Cyberstar Certificate is a good way to represent a dual commitment to protecting organizations’ sensitive data from the cyber criminals,” Huffaker said.
