Datamax Fills Christmas Wish List for Girls at Hope Haven of East Texas

Hope Haven Datamax

(Lindale, TX – Dec. 24, 2019) - For a group of girls shrouded in trauma, abuse, and uncertainty for most of their young lives, Datamax aimed to shed a little bit of light for them on Christmas morning.

The Datamax team in East Texas, as part of its DatamaxCares initiative, delivered a bundle of gifts for girls presently residing at Lindale-based Hope Haven residential operation. Hope Haven of East Texas is a Christian based non-profit organization devoted to providing residential care services to girls ages 13 to 18 who have moved through the State of Texas Foster Care System.

Datamax employees, working off a Christmas list filled out by the girls themselves, shopped for several days to fulfill the specific wishes of the Hope Haven residents.

“It was not just Datamax’s willingness to do something, but to look at the list and say ‘I think we can do most of that,’ and just jump in, it felt like so much more than just checking off a list at the end of the year,” Josiah Shipp, Director of Development at Hope Haven, said. “It was clear that there was a group of people at Datamax who really wanted to help out in a hands-on way.”

Shipp said that for girls who are in the Foster Care System, once they reach the age of 13, they have a less than 1 percent chance of getting adopted. They essentially, he says, bounce around the system, moving as many as 20 to 30 times before they reach the age of 18. At Hope Haven, they find stability, as well as the critical services and support they need to move forward.

Hope Haven of East Texas is focused on providing for the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of the girls through a nurturing and loving environment. They provide a variety of counseling and therapy services to their residents.

“Our job is to get them ready for life, helping them heal, and reminding them, regardless of what they’ve been told, that they are beautiful, capable women who can excel in life,” Shipp said.

Datamax Sales Manager Kenny Prince, who participated in the delivery of gifts, says the excitement of the staff and the anticipation they had for the girls come Christmas morning, reminded him of the real impact that DatamaxCares can have in each of the communities it serves.

“I believe that DatamaxCares reflects our real heart when it comes to our involvement and investment in our local communities,” Prince said. “It speaks to the type of people we have and to their character. Datamax really does care about those in need in our communities.”
