Embedded Device Applications

Datamax helps companies meet their unique document workflow requirements with Canon’s Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform (MEAP) technology. MEAP allows for the creation of embedded applications that expand the functionality of MEAP-enabled Canon imageRUNNER devices. These applications reside on the device itself—eliminating the need for additional hardware—and are accessible via a user-interface conveniently displayed on the control panel.

MEAP applications fall into three categories:

Custom MEAP Applications: Companies can develop their own custom applications for their imageRUNNER devices to meet their specific document workflow needs. Examples of custom client applications include Authorized Send, Scan-to-Database, and Advanced Authentication.
Independent Software Vendor MEAP Applications: Independent Software Vendors can utilize the MEAP Software Development Kit (SDK) to create applications that integrate their software solutions with the imageRUNNER product line. Some applications currently available include eCopy ShareScan OP, Ribstone, Equitrac, and Captaris RightFAX.
Canon-Branded MEAP Applications: Canon also makes use of the MEAP SDK platform to develop applications that are highly integrated with Canon imageWARE-branded software applications.
