Making sure green isn’t lost in the process.

As a leading-edge company in the digital printing, IT consulting and managed services industries, we recognize the vital responsibility we have to help protect the earth’s resources. That’s why we have dedicated ourselves to focusing our thought and process on a variety of environmental sustainability initiatives that demonstrate our growing commitment to minimizing the footprint Datamax leaves behind.

This year, we are raising our environmental stewardship efforts to a new level by partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees in our nation's damaged forests. Starting Arbor Day, April 29th, 2011, throughout June 2012, Datamax of Texas will give green back to the environment by sending a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation that will plant one tree for every qualified lease or purchase of digital printing office technology 30 pages per minute or greater. Datamax's Tree Planting initiative will run separately, yet in conjunction with Canon's Arbor Day Foundation Tree Donation Program, offering our clients the opportunity to give even more green back to the environment.

Datamax also integrates the following environmental commitments into our current business practices:

  • Partnering with renowned eco-conscious vendors such as Canon, HP, KonicaMinolta, and Microsoft. In fact, Canon is the proud recipient of the United States Environmental Protection Agency's 2010 ENERGY STAR® "Partner of the Year" Award. • Participating in and promoting the use of our vendors’ used toner cartridge recycling and collection programs. Specific details for recycling your toner can be found on the Canon, Konica Minolta, Kyocera and Dell websites.
  • Advocating the concept of “greener printing” to our clients through the crafting of well thought out managed print strategies.
  • Keeping a watchful eye on our facilities’ energy consumption in an effort to reduce the impact of our operations on the environment.
  • Utilizing virtualization technology at the server and workstation level to reduce energy consumption.
  • Seeking FSC certification* for our printed marketing collateral.
  • Recycling cardboard and expired technologies.
  • Purchasing and utilizing recycled products whenever feasible.
  • Encouraging environmental awareness internally by educating our employees on our sustainability initiatives, as well as externally via our corporate communications.

And that is only the beginning. Datamax is fully committed to continually assessing the environmental impact of our business operations and making a concerted effort to implement improvements where possible. In fact, we recently recycled approximately 2.5 tons of E-Waste—including monitors, keyboards and other miscellaneous computer components—during the transition to our new headquarters in Coppell. We were also able to donate nearly a 1/2 ton of electronics to a client that was struck by fire this past year.

*Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification means that a product has passed through a complete “chain of custody” from an FSC-certified forest, to an FSC-certified paper manufacturer, to an FSC-certified merchant, and an FSC-certified printer. Each part of the chain has its own standards for compliance. For more information, please visit www.fscus.org.
